How USCivics Quiz collects, uses, and shares information when you use uscivics-quiz.com.
Overview
USCivics Quiz (“we”, “us”) operates https://uscivics-quiz.com. This policy explains what information we process when you use the site. Last updated: August 4, 2026.
Information you provide
You can use the site without creating an account. Optional cloud sync uses Firebase Authentication and stores study progress associated with your account in Firestore. If you email us or use the contact form (Resend), we receive the address and message content you send. Optional inputs such as a ZIP code used for officials lookup are processed to return study results and are not used to build a marketing profile.
Information stored on your device
We may store preferences and study progress in your browser (for example localStorage for quiz progress, theme, language, or ZIP). This data stays on your device unless you clear site data. We do not require login to save local progress.
Automatically collected data
Like most websites, servers and analytics may process technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, and referring URLs. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the site.
Analytics
We may use Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand aggregated usage (for example which pages are popular). Google may process data under its own terms and privacy policy. You can use browser controls or opt-out tools where available.
Error monitoring
To keep the site reliable we use Sentry for error and performance monitoring. This may include technical details such as page URL, browser or device type, approximate location derived from IP, and stack traces. When an error occurs we may capture a masked session replay. Sentry processes data under its own terms. This reliability tooling is part of operating the service (not advertising).
Advertising
Optional third-party display advertising (for example Monetag) is controlled by a site flag and is currently off while we prioritize Google Ads Search landing quality. If re-enabled, ads load only after Accept all on the cookie banner. Choosing Essential only never loads advertising scripts. Ad partners’ practices are governed by their own policies.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies or similar storage for essentials such as language preference, for analytics when you Accept all, and for advertising only if display ads are re-enabled as described above. On first visit we show a cookie banner so you can Accept all (analytics; ads only if advertising is enabled) or Essential only. You can reopen Cookie settings anytime from the floating control. You can also control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect features.
How we use information
We use information to provide study tools, remember preferences, measure performance, prevent abuse, communicate when you contact us, and — if third-party display ads are re-enabled — to show advertising that helps keep the service free.
Sharing
We share data with service providers who help us run the site (hosting such as Vercel; Firebase Authentication/Firestore and Analytics; email delivery such as Resend; advertising when enabled; and error monitoring such as Sentry). We do not sell your email as a standalone product. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
Children
The site is intended for adults preparing for naturalization and similar learners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information.
International visitors
The site may be hosted and processed in the United States or other countries. If you access it from elsewhere, you understand information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.
Your choices and requests
You may clear local site data in your browser, block cookies, or email contact@uscivics-quiz.com for privacy-related questions. If you created an optional account, you can reset your password or delete the account (and associated cloud progress) from the practice sync panel, or email us to request deletion. Local progress on a device remains until you clear site data.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
